On September 9th, a star was born, Macy's on State Street, one of three designated Macy's flagship stores. We rolled out the red carpet to unveil new and exciting enhancements, merchandise assortments and more.
The Macy's visitor program has expanded to a nationwide program, making any Macy's store a must-stop-shop for visitors offering an amazing savings program. The Visitor Savings program offers shopping coupons for visitors, both domestic and international. A savings pass can be used for 5 days for domestic visitors and 30 days for international visitors.
State Street Signature events such as Glamorama, Culinary Week and the famous Holiday window displays and Great Tree traditions will continue at Macy's on State Street. Glamorama 2006 themed "Glamosphere" features cutting-edge fashion, world-beat music and a performance by Beyoncé. The Great Tree with ornaments designed by Vera Wang for Wedgwood and Holiday Windows telling the tale of Mary Poppins continue to bring holiday joy to Chicagoans and visitors alike.
The sweet tastes of Macy's Culinary Council and Frango® Mint Chocolates launch in Macy's stores nationally. The Macy's Culinary Council, welcomes three new culinary master minds, Govind Armstrong, executive chef and co-owner of Table 8 in Los Angeles, Dave Liberman, host of the Food Network's Good Deal with Dave Lieberman and Cat Cora, co-host of the Food Network's Kitchen Accomplished. To the already established council including Chicago favorites Rick Bayless and Gale Gand along with noted national chefs Tyler Florence and Takashi Yagihashi.

The 2nd Annual Designers of Chicago shop treat customers to exclusive collections in men's, women's and children's apparel, accessories, handbags and jewelry. Seventy designers were reviewed by Macy's buyers and trend managers based on the quality, fit, trend and inspiration of their pieces and only 47 were selected for this high fashion trend shop. The Designers of Chicago Shop showcases the innovation and inspiration of these Chicago-based fashion designers and makes their passions available for purchase for the entire season. Beginning in October, the various collections will make their way into their appropriate departments throughout Macy's. The exciting mix of Chicago-based designers available with Macy's national brands for the fall season is making Macy's on State Street truly the "way to shop."
The 28Shop®, an haute couture shop is named for the traditional entrance of the carriage trade at 28 East Washington Street. Shopping for designers Badgley Mischka Couture, Bill Blass, Issey Miyake, Stella McCartney and Vera Wang Couture is easier than ever when Macy's introduces the 28Shop® doorman and valet parking service.
