Macy's Returns Spring Flower Show to State Street
Flowers of Africa are inspiration for multimedia celebration of African music, art and life.

The flowers of Africa will bring light and warmth to the Midwest this year when Macy's on State Street presents an exotic African flower garden, Gadina Africana, a true celebration of the art, music and life of Africa. The 1st floor display will run from March 21 to April 7, 2007.

"Macy's is proud to bring back the exciting tradition of a spring flower show," said Frank Guzzetta, chairman and CEO of Macy's North. "As part of a national Macy's tradition, we have the opportunity to once again bring this much-anticipated experience back to the Chicago community."

The last time a flower show was held at the legendary State Street store was in 2003.

The African theme was inspired by Macy's "Path to Peace" project, in which Macy's offers exquisite handmade peace baskets made by 2,000 women genocide survivors in Rwanda (available at Macy's on State Street and at macys.com). The fresh flower show will occupy the 1st floor on the State Street side of the store and one corner window. Keith Kirsten, often called "South Africa's favorite gardener" and a popular media personality, is a special consultant for the show.
