Annual Flower Show Announced - March 13, 2008 - March 31, 2003

Macy's North 2008 Spring Flower Show Celebrates Latino Culture

"Floranova" Opens March 13 in Minneapolis and Chicago

The art, music and botanical gardens of the Latino world will transform Macy's North flagships stores in Minneapolis and Chicago with the debut of Floranova, the 2008 annual spring flower show. This artistic, cultural and horticultural extravaganza will run from March 13 to March 30 at Macy's Minneapolis and Macy's on State Street.

Floranova will draw inspiration from Mexico, Cuba, colonial Puerto Rico, Brazilian modernism, the Amazon, and South Beach, Miami, to create an amazing visual experience bringing energy throughout the store. In Minneapolis, Macy's will partner with Bachman's to create the show, which will encompass most of the first floor of the downtown store. At Macy's on State Street in Chicago, the show will occupy the first floor on the State Street side of the store.

"Our 2008 flower show will bring the beauty of the Latin world to our customers through an extraordinary floral spectacular," said Michelle Mesenburg, divisional vice president of marketing events and communication for Macy's North. "We are excited to present the glorious flowers, music and art of these Latin cultures to the Midwest this spring. Imagine being immersed in a transcontinental adventure, enjoying the rhythm of Rio during Carnival amongst the aged beauty of Cuba."

As in past years, Macy's has scoured the globe to find talented and unique partners to help bring the show to life and provide a spectacular visual experience to their customers. Artist David LeBatard, known as "LEBO," designed this year's flower show image in his signature, colorful South Beach style. In addition, Brazil's top living artist, Maria Bonomi, will be creating organically inspired oversized silver sculptures for the show. Bonomi's sculptures will be featured in the plantings in the show.
