Sensational Shopping: Thomas Pink
Macy's is proud to feature the following article from our business partner at Thomas Pink. Our affiliation aims to enhance the quality and diversity of merchandise that Macy's on State Street offers its visitors.

British myths and stereotypes provide the key themes, colors and looks for the Spring/Summer 2007 collection at Pink. It's not so much how we are, but how the rest of the world chooses to caricature us - caught in a cozy nostalgic time-warp, a more innocent age of tea, crumpets and stiff-upper lips.

Spring takes its cue from the Lost Gardens of Heligan. This ornate, thousand-acre Cornish estate was at its most magnificent at the end of the 19th century but, only a few years later, was left to the mercy of nature, as the men who tended it went off to fight in the Great War, never to return. The gardens were rediscovered eight decades later, deserted and disheveled, covered in a green blanket of weeds and ivy, a poignant memento to a glorious past. Redolent of romance, pathos and faded memories, it's proved an inspiring starting point for Pink's designers.

Next stop is the idyllic 1930's English Village, but one where everything is not quite what it seems. Welcome to the quaint yet mysterious world of Agatha Christie and Cluedo™ of croquet lawns and cricket matches, tea parties and nefarious goings on with lead piping behind lace curtains.

Finally, for high summer, this season's sartorial charabanc ride takes us to the perennially gaudy British seaside town, colourful home of the saucy postcard, straw boater, cockles and mussels and outsize sticks of rock.

Picking up on the distinctive seasonal themes outlined above, Pink's popular men's Slim Fit shirt will be available in a range of bright new prints and textures. These include vivid gingham checks in lime green, purple, red and cornflower blue. Look out for the special edition Glastonbury flower print shirt, and for a real waft of the South Coast, there's the all-new seaside-rock festooned Brighton print. Delicious.

Pink's best-selling Black Label collection is boosted by a new selection of handsome Bengal stripe shirts in strong seasonal colors : orange, navy, red and cornflower blue.

And there are eight dazzling new shirts in the Men's White Collection, including one with a diamond appliqué patch front detail, another with a neat rounded collar and a third featuring discreet jetted front pockets with smart metallic buttons.

There are several innovations in Pink's Spring/Summer 2007 Women's wear collection. Like our best ever white wrap shirt and a new-look feminine short puff-sleeve shirt, both from our capsule White Collection. There's also a brand-new line of women's polo shirts in navy/white and red/white stripes, plus a piqué polo range with subtle button detailing on the sleeves.

Another first for Pink are short-sleeved shirts in a pretty tearose-sprigged design, as well as a crisp navy/white and red/white Bengal stripe.

The successful Women's Slim Fit range has been expanded too. For a feminine flavor, check out our ditsy rose print, or for a bolder statement, there's turquoise and bright pink, with a fun jellybean print under the cuffs. Meanwhile, slightly more relaxed tailored women's shirts will be available in navy, turquoise and red Margate stripes.

Finally, there's a new, wonderfully soft, flowing Silk Jersey Collection. This includes our stunning Estelle shirt in pink, navy or black, as well as two short-sleeved, figure-skimming 1940's inspired belted dresses in black and navy with white spots.

For a classic English look, Pink has introduced a range of new narrower, knitted ties. They're available in two different textures, as a simple plain knit or in dapper stripes and spots. You'll also find a wide range of cufflinks reflecting the season's key themes from buds and beetles to jelly tots and sticks of seaside rock. For men who like a bit of co-ordination in their lives, there are matching printed and woven ties, scarves and pocket squares. We've also brought out a new line of bright, cotton-rich socks.
